🎮 Welcome to MapleStory Classic!

This guide will help new players get started in MapleStory Classic. Follow these steps to begin your adventure!

Character Creation[edit]

Choosing Your Look[edit]

Customize your character's:

  • Hair style and color
  • Face
  • Skin tone
  • Starting equipment color

Tip: Your appearance can be changed later with items from the Cash Shop or in-game quests!

Starting Stats[edit]

All characters start as a Beginner at Level 1 with basic stats. You'll choose your job class at Level 10.

Your First Steps[edit]

Tutorial Island (Maple Island)[edit]

Level 1-8: Training

  1. Talk to Sugar to start your journey
  2. Hunt Snails (Level 1) and Blue Snails (Level 3)
  3. Complete the tutorial quests for free potions
  4. Level up to 8-10 before leaving

Recommended Path:

  1. Follow the quest markers
  2. Hunt monsters your level for best EXP
  3. Pick up meso drops (in-game currency)
  4. Save potions for later

Leaving Maple Island[edit]

When ready (Level 8-10), talk to Maria at Southperry to take the ship to Victoria Island.

Victoria Island (Level 10+)[edit]

Choosing Your First Job[edit]

At Level 10, visit one of these towns to job advance:

Warrior Perion Dances with Balrog High HP, close combat, tanking
Magician Ellinia Grendel the Really Old Magic attacks, healing, support
Bowman Henesys Athena Pierce Long-range physical attacks
Thief Kerning City Dark Lord Fast attacks, high damage
Pirate Nautilus Kyrin Versatile, guns or fists

Essential Tips[edit]

Stats Distribution[edit]

When you level up, you get AP (Ability Points) to distribute:

Job Primary Stat Secondary Stat
Warrior STR DEX (enough for weapon)
Magician INT LUK (small amount)
Bowman DEX STR (some for HP)
Thief LUK DEX (for accuracy)
Pirate (Brawler) STR DEX
Pirate (Gunslinger) DEX STR

Important: Don't spread stats evenly! Focus on your primary stat.

Inventory Management[edit]

You have 4 inventory tabs:

  • Equipment - Weapons and armor
  • Use - Potions, scrolls
  • Etc - Quest items, drops
  • Cash - Cash shop items

Tips:

  • Store extra items in Storage (costs mesos)
  • Sell unwanted items to NPCs
  • Complete quests for inventory expansion coupons

Potions[edit]

Always carry HP and MP potions:

Money Making (Mesos)[edit]

For Beginners[edit]

  1. Pick up all meso drops from monsters
  2. Sell equipment drops to NPCs
  3. Complete quests for meso rewards
  4. Collect Etc Items and sell them

Good Drops to Sell:

  • Orange Mushroom Caps
  • Slime Bubbles
  • Pig Heads
  • Any equipment you don't need

Early Money Making Spots[edit]

Party Quests (PQ)[edit]

Party Quests are group activities with great rewards:

Kerning PQ (KPQ)[edit]

  • Level Range: 21-30
  • Party Size: 3-6 players
  • Rewards: EXP, scrolls, equipment

Ludibrium PQ (LPQ)[edit]

  • Level Range: 35-50
  • Party Size: 3-6 players
  • Rewards: Better EXP, rare scrolls, Ludi PQ Set

Tip: PQs are the fastest way to level in their level ranges!

Complete quests for rewards:

  • Story Quests - Learn about MapleStory lore
  • Town Quests - Help NPCs in each town
  • Job Quests - Required for job advancement

  • Use @find [name] to locate players
  • Press R to reply to whispers
  • Join a guild for community

Guilds[edit]

  • Join at Level 10+
  • Benefits: Guild buffs, parties, community
  • Ask in towns or check guild recruitment

Trading[edit]

  • Meet in Free Market to trade safely
  • Always check item stats before trading
  • Be cautious of scams

  • Z, X, C - Use potions/skills
  • S - Sit (HP/MP regen)

Common Mistakes to Avoid[edit]

  1. Spreading stats evenly - Focus on your primary stat!
  2. Forgetting to job advance - Do it at Level 10!
  3. Selling rare items to NPCs - Check value first
  4. Not using scrolls properly - Learn about scrolling first
  5. Training in areas too high level - Stick to your level range

  1. Complete your 2nd Job Advancement
  2. Start doing Ludibrium PQ
  3. Upgrade your equipment with Scrolls
  4. Save mesos for better equipment
